FUNDRAISING TIPS:
- Position your Walk Your Dog With Love logo link prominently. The program will not work if the link is hidden deep down somewhere on your site's back pages, or at the bottom of the list of many other offers. It will only work if it gets good exposure. Better exposure means continuous donations for you. Front page is best.
Shelters that raise a lot of funds with this program feel it deserves prominent placement because it is directly linked to the mission to save dogs from being abandoned in the first place, and then to keep them in good homes after adoption. PLUS, you also receive 50% of the sale.
- Highlight the program in your rescue's newsletter. One shelter did this and sold 15 harnesses the first day. Do this at least once a quarter; it will generate funds without being overbearing. It also builds momentum for the program as friends tell friends who tell friends.
- Mention the program on your rescue's FaceBook, blog, Twitter, etc. And like above, mention it regularly to build momentum and donations.
- Put the rescue donation link other places. Members and volunteers often own or work for companies that support the rescue, or they have their own blogs, and FaceBook pages. The more exposure the program gets, the more donations it generates for the rescue. And the more dogs are being walked with love! Collars and chokers are no way to walk your best friend.
- Give the program its own web page. One rescue loves the harness and the program so much they did this . . . and they get new orders all the time. The page has personal comments from the rescue's Director on it.
- Send a press release to your local newspapers and radio stations. It is a great hook to get your rescue extra attention and it generates great results.
NOTE:When referring to the program consider calling it The Harness Fundraiser program, or World's Best Dog Harness (that's what we call it!). Though 'Walk Your Dog With Love' is a great name, people who read it might think it is a dog walking service, yet there is no questions about what The World's Best Dog Harness is!
